Karnataka RTC to start luxury bus service to Kerala

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Karnataka (KSRTC) is going to start a new luxury bus service from Kozhikode
to Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport. Also, there will be services to Salem, Coimbatore, Tirupati and Madikeri. The bus service
will start within two months. Presently, intercity Flybuses run connecting different cities in Karnataka.
Flybuses consists of facilities like toilet and inbuilt pantry.

The Flybus service was first started from Mysore to Bengaluru airport in
2013. Though it had a loss of 15 lakhs in the first year, the service became profitable in the later years, as Flybuses were widely accepted.
Accordingly, the corporation decided to start services from other states as well.
The bus fare, schedule and food menu to be provided in the bus service from Kozhikode will be fixed later. The bus starting from Kozhikode
will reach Bengaluru airport before it reaches Santhi Nagar bus stand. The Flybus service will be useful for not only the passengers to
airport, but also those who travel to Kerala from Bengaluru.
Karnataka RTC plans to buy 15 buses this time. Ten among them will be used to replace the old Flybuses in Mysore, Kundapura routes.
New buses have better amenities in them. It has two seats on both sides, whereas the old buses had three seats on one side. The
corporation decided to modify the facilities on the grounds of complaints from passengers regarding lack of facilities. The LED screens on
the back side of the bus will be better in the new bus. More than 100 channels will be available on the TV.
